Republican Candidates for President and Jobs

One only needs to look at the current field of Presidential Contenders for the Republican Party to understand that not only do Republicans not care about the economy, they really don’t care about jobs at all.  Leading the Polls are Social Conservative candidates Gingrich, Bachman, Paul, Santorum and Perry. All Anti-Abortion, Anti-Gay candidates with no plans on how to create jobs. Romney is the wild card, still polling high, no one really even knows what he believes as he has taken sides on every issue. All we really know is his economic plan would enrich his private equity buddies at Bain by eliminating the Capital Gains Tax. So anyone wondering why the Republicans Congress would stall key legislation on extending the Payroll Tax cut, needs to look no further then the polling for the Presidential race of the Republican Party.

Fiscally Conservative but more socially moderate candidates such as John Huntsman, Buddy Roemer and Gary Johnson have gotten zero media attention but all have plans on reforming the electoral process as well as plans on getting the economy moving (Disclaimer: not that I agree with these plans). If Republicans were really serious about the economy these candidates would not only be polling better but should likely be leading the Republican field.

Which then brings me to the media and money. Anyone looking at the polls would immediately realize that the polling data clearly reflects on-air time vs agreeing with any political points the candidates are making. Each candidate has peaked in the polls after receiving the most air-time between debates and talk shows, and no one recently has gotten more air-time then Gingrich.

Which brings me back to the issues and the economy. Although, according the recent polling data, the number one issue with most Americans is the economy. Not with the Republicans, given these polling results, they have become a two issue party, Abortion and Gays. Foreign Policy which use to be the Republican Strong suit also can no longer be claimed to be on their agenda, as most of the top polling candidates don’t even seem to have a grasp of foreign policy.

Karl Rove once the architect of the Republican Party, talked about his vision of one party rule under the Republicans. Since then his vision has driven moderate Republicans over to the Democratic party where now they have taken over. Once only needs to look at the economic policies of the last 30 years, voting records of members of congress and tax data for those same members to realize the peoples party, the Democratic party has been taken over by Conservative Republicans and progressives have now been left out in the cold with no voice in government.
