I was personally very surprised when I found a Wonder Woman Halloween costume in the girl’s section. As well as Supergirl, and Batgirl. But I agree with this sentiment. Toymakers make profits on sexism.
I was *just* having a conversation with a friend about this. I was looking for female superhero inspiration for a costume, but the only aisle in the toy section for superheroes was in the “boys’ toys” half, and in that entire aisle, the only women were a bobble-head Princess Leia and and itty-bitty Sifa (from Thor) figurine. So that entire store had no Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, Rogue, Jean Grey, Storm… nothing. It’s incredibly frustrating. The worst part is, even if parents decide that it’s alright for their kid of one gender to play with toys intended for the other gender, the stores will still sell them in aisles segregated between blue and pink.
We decided that she would be a Doctor for Halloween. So cute, Doctors Lab Coat, Scrubs and a Stethoscope. Who says Doctors can only be men, fuck that.
